Oregon Convention Center Sets New Benchmark

Our 12-year relationship with the Oregon Convention Center hit a high mark in 2015 when we helped the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) achieve a Platinum certification for LEED-EB: O&M and obtain a Level 4 APEX/ASTM certification. The OCC’s story is one of amazing progress, beginning as one of the first convention centers to achieve LEED-EB certification in 2004, and earning the arguably highest standard in green building, LEED Platinum certification.  Now, as the first meeting space to achieve a Level 4 certification from the Green Meeting Industry Council, OCC has set a new benchmark for the industry.  Highlights of this 876,700-sf project include:

  • A “Green Team” that tracks the facility’s performance on recycling, energy consumption and water usage
  • The purchase of 40% renewable wind power
  • Guidelines for green housekeeping
  • Low-flow plumbing fixtures
  • Compostable serviceware, food-scrap composting and the donation of pre-consumer food to local community groups
  • Ongoing commissioning process to document building performance
