Haytham Bendary is GBS’ on-site sustainability consultant in Qatar, where he is overseeing a major urban development involving the LEED certification of nearly 100 buildings in downtown Doha. With an engineering background encompassing both civil and construction engineering, Haytham has over six years of professional experience working largely in the Middle East. This includes serving as a LEED consultant and planning engineer for the US Navy and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in Bahrain, where he dealt with the special challenges of guiding LEED certification for military buildings on a US base in a foreign country. Other past projects include serving as a planning and project controls engineer for two fast-track projects for the USACE at Almusanah Air Base in the Sultanate of Oman, and as a planning and technical office engineer for commercial, recreational and residential projects in Egypt. A registered professional engineer (PE) in the state of Colorado, Haytham possesses a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a higher studies diploma in Construction Engineering and Management. Originally from Egypt, he is fluent in Arabic and English.
In his spare time, Haytham freelances as an engineering software instructor.
